The next installment in the Batman: Arkham series has been announced - Batman: Arkham Origins. The game is a prequel to the previous two installments in the franchise and will see the Caped Crusader taking on members of the rogue gallery for the first time. It will also be the first of the "Arkham" games to take place on the streets of Gotham City. It was revealed on the cover of the May issue of Game Informer.
Interestingly, even though it's a prequel they say that it isn't an origin tale, which is refreshing seeing as how Batman origins have been done to death. DC's Batman is about to begin a new origin tale within the New 52 entitled Batman: The Zero Year, so there's only so much Batman backstory one can take. However, the game will feature Batman taking on some of the world's deadliest assassins on Christmas Eve. Deathstroke is seen, but I imagine with "the world's deadliest assassins" being thrown out that notable members of Ra's Al Ghul's "League of Assassins" are sure to pop up.
Arkham Origins is set for release on October 25th, 2013 on current generation consoles.
